WHERE TO: Wine, Dine & Stay in Savannah, GA

Where We Stayed:

We stayed at the Perry Lane Hotel and wow, it was an amazing experience. The staff was so kind and attentive. The hotel was very central in Savannah so it was easy to walk to restaurants, shopping etc... while staying at the Perry Lane you can enjoy unlimited complimentary champagne, coffee and obviously water bottles throughout your stay. The hotel also comes with a luxury house car which was great. Savannah is pretty small and the blocks are close together, but in our case it was storming during the duration of our trip so we weren't able to walk to dinner. Instead of calling an Uber, the staff would call a house car for us. It was actually great at the end of the night too when Uber fees spike, we just called Perry Lane and a driver was there within 5 minutes. The hotel also has a couple bars and at one of them, guest get to enjoy one free cocktail between 5-5:30 daily! The hotel also features a rooftop pool and bar, an amazing gym, a nice quiet lounge if you needed to get some work done and a few bars and restaurant.

We have stayed at quite a few different hotels and airbnb's whenever we visit Savannah, but Perry Lane just blew all of them out of the water. I know it's pretty common to stay in air bnb's or VRBO's while in Savannah (I've done it multiple times myself- with Justin and on girl's trips) there are some great options, but you do need to be wary of the location.

Where We Ate:

Alright let's talk food. Almost every time we go to Savannah, we always end up at a great spot, but yall. We did not have a bad meal this go round. Every restaurant we went to was AMAZING. Like some of the best meals we've ever had amazing. Disclaimer- we did splurge on our restaurants this trip- there are some delicious fast casual spots we've been to (I can list them out at the bottom) but I want to share the restaurants we went to on this specific trip because omg.

Husk

Husk was absolutely amazing. Smaller menu that changes daily and some things you normally wouldn't see paired together, but my gosh it melted in our mouths haha I ordered the snapper or the grouper I can't remember, but wow. We also ordered a charcuterie board as an app and it was delicious- everyone had told us afterward that we should have ordered starters from their raw bar because apparently they're known for that. Noted for next time!

Emporium Kitchen & Wine Market

We ate at the Emporium kitchen the next morning for brunch- delicious. I had the french toast with fresh peaches and Justin ordered eggs benedict. The service was a bit slower than we liked- there was one server for the entire space, but about 3 girls running food so that was kind of odd and the server just seemed really overworked and couldn't get to everyone in a timely manner, but other than that the food was delicious, the vibe of the space was really cool and the kitchen was open so you could see the chef cooking! The Emporium had a really cool looking bar too, but since we were there for breakfast we didn't get to experience that area.

Stone & Webster Chophouse

Fave place for sure! If you're looking for an excellent steak house, great service, really cool menu options, a great wine list and overall nice ambiance- Go to Stone and Webster! When we first walked in, there's a really cool bar and some booths so we were a little confused because the restaurant itself looked bigger and a little different online, but once we checked in with the hostess, they took us through the restaurant to this back room that opened up to an even bigger dining space with water view. It was really really cool.

As far as food- not sure if they change up their menu, but besides the steak itself, we ordered the grilled caesar salad (melted in our mouth) and the grilled zucchini omggg. They brought out a sweet little birthday treat at the end of our meal too! It was like a blueberry bread pudding of some sort and you guessed it, delicious!

Graffito

We ate at Graffito for lunch the first day we got to Savannah- it wasn't the best pizza ever, but it also wasn't terrible haha it was average I'd say. The restaurant itself was really cool- it's in the Plant district, on the water and tons of shops and places to walk to right next to it. Definitely a good spot if you need a quick bite to eat!

As far as other restaurants- I pulled the below list from an old Savannah travel guide of mine

  1. Soho South Cafe (we ate here for breakfast on our last morning, because it was recommended- the actual restaurant was super cool, food was okay- they only had 3 breakfast options (??) but apparently their lunch is really good.

  2. The Lady & Sons (southern cooking for lunch and dinner- delish!)

  3. Foxy Loxy’s (great for coffee/ vegan breakfasts- we split zuchinni bread one morning, it was amaaazing. There’s also a cute little balcony you can sit on overlooking Forsyth Park)

  4. Collins Quarter (Brunch and Dinner- I don't think they take rez for brunch and it fills up quickly!! Soooo good)

  5. 700 Drayton (every meal- it’s actually the Mansion on Forsyth’s restaurant)

  6. Cafe at City Market ( great for any meal, we really liked it for lunch! I got the cilantro lime grilled chicken salad, Justin ordered the crabcake sandwhich. Both were delicious)

  7. Tequila’s Town (mexican restaurant- moderately priced, great margaritas- get there early because the wait gets longggg and it’s not a big restaurant)

  8. Rocks on the Roof/ Rocks on the River (order the grilled pimento cheese sandwhich. You’re welcome.)

  9. Zunzi’s (literally a hole in the wall, but so worth it)

  10. Byrd Cookie Company (they give free samples of the cookies and they are soooo good)

Where We Went Out:

Electric Moon Skytop Lounge

We had a blast at the Electric Moon- wasn't really a "college feel" which was nice, but also was super fun and lively. The outdoor space is awesome, but it was storming out so we couldn't hang out on the rooftop or go down that cool slide. Next time! It's a fun place day or night.

The Wayward

We stopped by the Wayward on the way home one night- it was right across from our Hotel. There was a popcorn machine, fun nostalgic arcade games and kind of a speakeasy vibe of a bar. There were a lot of locals there and it was the perfect spot to go for a late night drink.

Some other places:

  1. Rocks on the Roof (a favorite of many, a rooftop bar that has outside seating all around the perimeter including live music, fire pits and a really cool atmosphere on top of The Bohemian Hotel.)

  2. Saddlebags (an OG country bar- sometimes up and coming country singers will be performing. Fun fact, we used to watch Riley Green before he blew up!)

  3. Myrtle & Rose (a rooftop bar in the plant district, it has a garden feel with firepits and a pretty bar- would be fun photo op for Bachelorette party or girls trip)

  4. City Market Cafe (Day time stop- THE BEST PEACH SANGRIA. that is all )

  5. AlleyCat Lounge (We didn't go here, but it was recommended often. I want to say it was under renovations when we were there.

  6. Rogue Water Tap House (its a typical “college” bar aka dirty and small, but hey sometimes those are the best places to go)

  7. Tree House Savannah (I've been here a couple times on bachelorette parties- it's a late night stop for sure, but fun!)

  8. B & D Burgers (a fun daytime place to go- cornhole outside and some outdoor couches with football games on the tv)

Other Things To Do

There's lots of things to do in Savannah- Shopping on Broughton and the surrounding area, Concerts, peddle tours (these are so fun) I think there's historic trolly tours, ghost tours at night, theres a retro theater with live shows, and honestly, just walking around the town and looking at the historic homes is soo much fun.

We love love Savannah! If you haven't been, it's definitely a place to visit! You can also walk around with a drink haha they'll give you a to go cup at the door of whatever restaurant or bar you're at! If you want a few more recs on other places to stay- make sure you check out THIS old blog post of mine with some more hotel and restaurant recommendations!
